Curiously as children, we would quietly sit for hours watching as Nanna, would knit like a woman possessed. Seated comfortably in her armchair surrounded by cones of yarn precariously balanced on an array of ornaments and pets. Beneath the smoking needles a scarf, blanket, tea cosy or some other intricate creation would be unveiled. Each piece as unique and lovingly made as the next.Occasionally Nanna would scoop us up onto her generous lap and patiently guide us through the art of her knots.
