I love playing with Fair Isle knitting. The challenge of creating a decorative pattern with 2 colours in the same row. Leaving minimal space between each colour change so as not to leave too longer floating yarn behind the scenes. Yes ‘behind the scenes’ I say. Generally, when looking at a Fair Isle knit, you will notice if you look at the back, a mess of floating yarns. It is said that these floating yarns serve a purpose of adding bulk and warmth to a garment. Here at Otto & Spike, the much revered and extremely intelligent pattern maker; Sir Serge Knitalot has masterfully hidden his floating yarns inside your scarf so you can’t see it.
Clever hey?!
