Serge twill fabric is a a type of woven fabric with diagonal ridges on both sides. Way back in the 16th Century when most of the English wool was exported to Calais, France it was woven into Serge twill fabric. When Calais was taken over by the French in 1558 there was a strong surge in the English weaving industry – creating their own twill fabric. With an ironic twist, here at Otto & Spike our highly talented knit machine technician goes by the very fitting name of ‘Serge’
