Science always seemed to prove to be a fun time at school. Creating a solar system from polystyrene balls. Dissecting to that poor little rat or if you were really lucky a sheep’s heart. The most exciting class often seemed to be the chemistry classes. Letting a group of pubescent kids lose on a bunch of chemicals and Bunsen burners was an experiment in itself. Perhaps one of the simplest experiments involved the use of litmus paper. This piece of filter paper impregnated with litmus (a water soluble mix of dyes extracted from lichens). The blue litmus paper would turn red when immersed in acid and the red litmus paper would turn blue when placed in an alkaline solution.
We can’t divulge exactly what solution we dipped these beanies in but we think the result is quite an effective mix of colours to brighten up your winter days.
