Funny you know, looking back it’s surprising how so many of our little stories relate to food. Like knitting, food would have to be our second passion.
So when working on the pattern for this little number, I was inspired by the criss-cross pastry pattern of my apricot ‘Danish’.
A croline, I now understand is a flaky pastry parcel filled with sweet or savoury goodness. Did you know that in Denmark they don’t call those delicious sticky pastry treats ‘Danish’? They actually call them ‘wienerbrod’ which translates to Viennese bread. It turns out these pastry treats were introduced to the people of Denmark in 1850 by a group of Austrian bakers.
