Stringbean Beanie

Dave ‘Stringbean’ Akeman measured a long lanky 6 foot 5 inches. Stringbean was regarded by many as the greatest all time banjo player in the American country music world. Born in 1916 to a poor family in Kentucky, Dave Akeman learnt the art of plucking a banjo from his father. Not only famous for his music, some refer to him as the founder of the Hip-Hop wardrobe, known to wear an oversized shirt tucked into a short pair of jeans belted at the knees. In 1973 whilst performing, an attempted burglary of Stringbeans home went horribly wrong. Returning early from his performance, Stringbean and his wife Estelle disturbed the would be burglars who in turn shot them both dead. Ironically the thieves took off without $3000 cash later found in Stringbeans pocket nor the $2000 in his wife’s.
